SC Quality Benchmark

Most trials suggest that a minimum of 30mg per day is required with a probability of faster and more consistent benefits as dosage levels rise to over 120mg per day. In the SC assessments 30mg is seen as the minimum effective dosage with increasing score for recommended dosage levels up to 120mg.

CoQ10 has a variety of important functions in the body as a component as part of of energy release pathway and as an important antioxidant. Recent human trials have indicated that daily supplementation of between 30mg and 200mg may provide benefits in heart, and mental health particularly as we age past 50 years, and also may improve energy levels in us all.

Quality
Most of the products reviewed here are of  good quality as they meet the minimum  standard of the SC Quality Benchmark, of 30mg CoQ10 per daily dose. Most of the products are very similar however, as virtually all of them offer 30mg per tablet. The Boots and Holland and Barrett products have the edge only because they provide the option of a higher dosage by  recommending more than one tablet daily.  Wth this category the value assessment of the product assumes a greater level of importance.

Value Range
The value in this category is calculated at the cost per 30mg CoQ10 which is the SC Benchmark minimum guideline daily dose. The range of cost of the products reviewed varied from £0.10 - £0.33. As this category of products are so similar, and most meet the quallty guidelines then value becomes a more important factor.
