New Health Comparison Website Helps Parents Choose the Best Supplements for their Children

**EMBARGOED UNTIL 2nd APRIL 2008**

Parents keen give their children a healthy start in life could benefit from a new comparison website which launches in March and reveals that parents may be paying over six times more than they need for popular children’s health supplements, and uncovers that the amount of active ingredient found varies widely between brands.

Supplementscompared.com is the first comparison site for health and reviews over 400 of the most popular health supplements from the mind boggling 20,000 available including products specifically aimed at children such as children’s multivitamins and omega 3.  Each product is reviewed on its likelihood of delivering intended benefits and on the value it offers for money, with outstanding supplements in each category awarded “best product” and “worth a look” accolades.

Supplements are reviewed by a panel of experts made up from medical doctors and leading nutritionists, and which is chaired by broadcaster and author of “Imperfectly Natural Baby and Toddler” Janey Lee Grace.

Janey explains,
“It’s important to look after our children’s health, but with so many products on the market knowing which to choose can be difficult.  Many parents are swayed by well known brands or think it’s how much you spend that matters, but this site shows that it’s not that easy: expensive products aren’t necessarily the best, but some cheap products can be ineffective and a waste of money. It’s important to assess every product on its own merits.”

Supplementscompared.com analysed the comparative cost of a 450mg dose of essential fatty acids in six leading children’s liquid omega 3 products and discovered that the price varied from £0.09 to £0.59 for each dose. The site also uncovers that out of twelve leading omega 3 chewable capsule products, only two contain the guideline amounts of active omega 3 ingredients when taken at the recommended dose.

The demand for omega 3 for children supplements has greatly increased in recent years following several studies which link omega 3 to improved concentration and learning abilities in children. As children are often unwilling to eat oily fish and parents are worried by reports of toxicity in fish, many parents are turning to supplements to ensure that children get their minimum recommended 450mg daily amount of omega 3 oils.

Janey continues,
“Many of us want to maintain and improve our children’s health but don’t know where to start. This site lets people search for supplements for men, women and children as well as by health need or simply helps them find out more about types of products. There are all kinds of comparison sites on the internet, but nothing else like this for health.”
