Slash your risk of diabetes with vitamin C
05 August 2008

Higher blood levels of vitamin C could dramatically reduce the risk of developing diabetes by up to 62%, according to a new study from Cambridge.

Eating 5 portions of fresh fruit and veg a day was linked to a lowered risk of diabetes, with particular focus on vitamin C.

A member of the supplementscompared.com expert panel said that a balanced diet is the key to help us stay healthy.

“Eating a balanced diet is certainly the key to helping us stay healthy and eating 5 portions of fruit and veg a day is certainly a good start – try to eat fruit and vegetables that are different colours to get the maximum nutritional benefits.”

They added:

“If you choose to supplement your diet with vitamin C buy a good multivitamin - it will have all the benefits of vitamin C plus lots of other vitamins thrown in for good measure, and it will cost roughly the same amount.”
