Superdrug
Increased intake of the Omega-3s DHA and EPA in children may be associated with improved brain function expressed as improved learning, concentration and behavioural traits. The SC panel recommends a minimum of 150mg EPA / DHA to children of 6 months – 2 years, and 450mg EPA / DHA to children of 2 – 12 years in order to achieve optimal benefits.
This product is a lemon-flavoured fish oil providing 1125mg EPA / DHA per 5ml teaspoon. As such, this product would be likely to provide the full range of benefits associated with increased intake of Omega-3s. This product is a pure fish oil, and at the recommended dosage of two teaspoons (10ml) per day, the product would supply 2250mg EPA / DHA, which would deliver all adult benefits of high Omega-3 intake as well as the maximum benefit for children.
The only downside to pure oil products is getting the children to take it. This product tastes oily, but has little if any fishy taste. The SC panel recommends combining it in a fruit-smoothie or similar food or drink in order to disguise the taste. This is a very high potency Omega-3.
