Over recent years, there has been much interest in the use of different types of fibre, plant gums and products such as Chitosan for use in weight reduction programmes. The mechanisms they use include the binding of fat and utilising fibre to absorb water in order to create a feeling of fullness. The evidence for effects in well-conducted trials is weak and often contradictory. This product contains fibre of unstated origin and quantity; the recommended dosage is 2-4 tablets after each meal, SC has weighed these tablets and three tablets will deliver a maximum of 2.0 grams of fibre.

Information on this product includes some unpublished scientific data in support of the formula. Overall, the opinion of the SC expert panel is that this product is unlikely to deliver the expected benefit of weight reduction as part of a calorie-controlled diet. The product is very expensive.
